A few years back in school I read a short story where 2 worlds are at war. The author makes it sound like the character you're reading about is human, but at the end you find out he's actually at war with humanity. The last bit of the story he kills a person(described as creature?) said "it had four limbs, pale white skin and let out a scream when it was killed" or something like that.
Anyways the story was quite good and I'd like to find it, can anyone help?

I know I'm bumping a pretty old post, but I'm looking for the same story. If someone can help it would be great.

Nevermind... I managed to find it. It's "Sentry" by Frederic Brown, 1954.

Glad this 7 year old mystery has been solved!! I'm sure Mr Top Gun will be happy.

It's very similar to a Clifford D. Simak or A.E. van Vogt story from one of his collections, about aliens that land on Earth years after all humans died from war. They resurrect a human, only to find he has mental powers and a better mind than they do. We only learn halfway through the story that the protagonists are not human, having suckers at the end of their fingers...
