I would make the case that it's better than ever (I could never get THAT into Civ III)...mine runs a little sluggishly. I don't know if it's RAM or video card or just plain unoptimized coding. But so far nothing that's brought me to a crashing halt.

Mine ran smoothly until I hit the usual endgame slowdowns. Nothing I haven't had in any of the prior Civs.

I'd say, so far, it's my second favorite behind Civ 2.

How's online multiplayer?

I'm kinda afraid to pick up this game cause Civ II stole so much time from me a few years back, and I can't even imagine it with a good online mode.

Well, I don't do MP, so can't answer from experience, but they say they put a great deal of time in on it and I've heard good reports.....but true civvers don't MP. :)

Staying as far from MP as possible. Have nowhere NEAR that sort of time...
