Crazy Idea For Lovers of Fantasy...

Crysania

Okay, this is bizarre. I just need some opinions. I was thinking of posting the follwing on some random fantasy boards etc. What do you guys think about the concept?

Throwing this out there trying to garner interest. I'm a professional actress (IE: I make money) who graduated with a degree in film from the Univ of Texas. I'm also a huge fan of the fantasy genre. I'm interested in finding a fun way of merging acting with role-playing and filming it. If nothing else, there doesn't seem to be a local Houston-area club/organization for readers of the fantasy-genre, and I would like to fill that niche. If any of this sounds interesting to you and you live in Houston, please contact me. I'm not really into the whole Society for Creative Anacronism or extreme role-playing gurus. Although, I think it would be fun to bring fantasy from the fringe and make it palatable to a cross-section of people so they can feel the same passion for it we do... if worse comes to worse this would just be a fun thing to do on our own and get together and watch it ourselves. We wouldn't MAKE any money from it, so I'm hoping we could get the rights to do something like this from the authors/publishers etc.

Okay, any thoughts people? I just had a great acting class today. But I'd really like to act in something I LOVE - like one of the books/series I love as opposed to random boring, poorly-written screenplays that compose most of the independent schlock I audition for etc.

Hey Crys,

Big howdy from San Antonio. Sounds interesting. But I'm not quite sure what you mean? Could you elaborate on your idea a bit more?

Qin....be nice! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am of course impressed that they're making a sequel (are they?) though I haven't plucked up enough courage to see the first one (Jeremy Irons is 'panto dame baddie', etc etc)

I'm sure Crysania can do as well if not better.....I'm personally impressed by your confidence in being able to do something like that.

Howdy from Dallas! Go Mavs!! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think that sounds like a cool idea Crysania. I'm the worst actress in the world, but I think that would be a fun outlet for those who enjoy fantasy and acting. Would you do your own adapted scripts?

YUCK! They're not doing a sequel to that hideous version of D&D, are they??? Idiots...

Anyway, yeah, to elaborate...in an ideal situation I would have a big group of people who would get together every so often and film bits of adapted script from a series. I think it's really just me being bored and frustrated with the scripts I come across. There's no way we could do justice to ANYTHING on no budget. I'm just not into the whole role-playing thing...but lately I've just wanted to act in stories I care about.

Too much work, I guess... but it's nice that y'all think it's kinda cool.

Hell, go for it girl.

There aren't enough fantasy movies out there. There are a few fantasy TV shows but those are too cheesy to even speak about. Like that stupid hercu.... shhhhhhh!!!! Speak not the H-word.

Anyhow... you'd figure with as many fantasy novels as there are... SOMEONE would have decided to make a movie out of them. A SERIOUS movie. DnD was awful! AWFUL AWFUL....god awful!

Think of all the cool special effects they could put in these movies. Look how popular LotR is in the movies. Good acting makes all the difference.

The texans shall rule the boards!!!
