See, I never saw the point in that. I'd rather the natural experience of dealing with the items you're lucky (or unlcky) enough to get. What's the point of cruising through the game with kick arse weapons?
Same with cheat utilities - why bother?

Yeah cheating ruined diablo II for me online, with all those idiotic white rings and all. And we can't forget the duped items, and the maphacks.
I guess the fact that everyone would rather cheat and get to lvl 99 as fast as possible while being the most powerful possible without actually working for it, is some kind of ridiculously geeky metaphor for our society.
Or perhaps I'm thinking too deeply about Diablo II... anyone know a store where I can get a life for cheap?

in 1.09 that's all I ever did. So many dead cows... and then I would raise them. And have a murderous cow army of kill-everything! Mwahahahhaahaha! Everyone stop talking about D2 now before I have to go back and play it... :p

I'm very tempted to buy NWN, could someone please compare it to Diablo and/or Baldur's Gate II (I love both) :D
Thanks
NWN is a much deeper game than D2. D2 is pretty much focused on hack-n-slash and is conducive to what is sometimes derisively referred to as "powergaming": making the most powerful, kick-@$$ character you can.
NWN on the other hand, is a true role-playing game. The key is to get into character. The single-player campaign is good but not quite the quality of the BG/BG2 campaigns. Of the expansions, Shadows of Undrentide has a solid though uninspired campaign, but Hordes of the Underdark is magnificent. Additionally, lots of great, well-scripted mods are available for free download, some based on D2-like hack-n-slash while some almost pure role-playing (eg Adam Miller's Dreamcatcher mods don't award experience for killing monsters, but only for accomplishing goals and role-playing your character).
NWN shines even brighter when you go online and join a persistent world server which begins to feel almost like a MMORPG or an old-fashioned PnP D&D campaign. Many of the good PW's have scheduled DM events every once in a while. It's great.
Go ahead, give it a try...

What makes me more mad is that people will cheat, get buff, wait outside towns for unsuspecting folks, kill them and steal their items. Hey, it happens in the real world, why not screw it up for everyone else on D2?
Cheating? Hell no. Getting help from friends to help you kill Maphisto and they gratefully offer to give you some items before you face Diablo? Kindness... ah, I love it.

that's a major reason why I don't play on Open Battle.net....

Ah, this game is evil...I have so many more important things to do (I am a mother after all) but I find myself playing D2 quite a lot lately. It's addictive. I was watching my husband play and decided "hey, that looks fun I"ll give it a try..." Then I couldn't stop! I don't know if I'll bother to finish the game but right now I'm having lots of fun (on Act II).
I'm an assassin and I love using the wrist blades (Hi-ya!) and throwing stars. I haven't hacked my character but I did get some charms from my brother in law to gain experience and money faster. It makes the game a bit easier.
I wish I could grow out of video games and do more important things with my time but d@mn, this one is fun.

Diablo's all right, but I found it a bit reptitive towardthe end of my stint. I had a Paladin called Knight_of_Ni and a Druid called... um... can't remember but anyways, that paladin whipped some serious ass towards the end of his career.
