Ficus Fan - I believe Liz Williams is a Tor UK author - as am I. Although I have been published in the UK and Commonwealth & translated into German and Russian, sadly, I have no US publisher - yet...

If the opening poster would like a freebie sample of my Fantasy, there's some on my website... (don't think I'm supposed to advertise - but it's in my sig details) Hope you enjoy it!

Yes she is, but Liz Williams only has one book with them, and it isn't out yet (Darkland) all the others are US books. She was first published here, and not in the UK (for some odd reason). The others listed are still only published in the US, though you can get the US books on Amazon.UK.

Funny, I bought some Liz Williams books in the UK as gifts and they were Tor UK editions. I believe that Spectra is the US publisher.

Since we have Ms. Miller's attention, is the second book coming out this fall in the UK?

Hi John - thanks for asking! Yes the next book, 'Swarmthief's Treason' is due out in the Fall - assuming I finish it in the next few weeks!

Ficus - I know Liz has had a few with Tor UK - definately 'Nine Layers of Sky' - but, yes, she did get a US publisher first. I must ask her sometime how she did that! She's a great writer...

Thank you. I've added it to the fall UK shopping list!

Oops - I meant William Hope Hodgson, not Smith.

CAS was also a Yank.

So you're just right all around.

Hi folks,

Just to clear up any confusion - I'm published as follows:

THE GHOST SISTER - Bantam (USA only)
EMPIRE OF BONES - Bantam/Tor Macmillan (USA/UK)
THE POISON MASTER - Bantam/Tor Macmillan (USA/UK)
NINE LAYERS OF SKY - Bantam/Tor Macmillan (USA/UK)
BANNER OF SOULS - Bantam/Tor Macmillan (USA/UK)
DARKLAND - Tor Macmillan (UK only, published this weekend!)

SNAKE AGENT - Night Shade Books (USA only)
BANQUET OF THE LORDS OF NIGHT - Night Shade Books (USA only)

There will be 3 further novels published with Night Shade (THE DEMON AND THE CITY, PRECIOUS DRAGON and one untitled), and 2 more with Tor in the UK: BLOODMIND and VANISH.

I was initially published in the US because I signed up with an American agent, Shawna McCarthy. She was the first agent I approached and it just gelled - so it took a while for me to be published in the UK.

Yes - Barclay deserves an American audience (I have slight reservations about Demonstorm, padded out with way too much fighting to disguise a very slim story. i haven't read the new one yet).

Is Trudi Canavan a Brit? she's proving quite popular in the UK.

I second KJ Parker - great writing (The Belly of the Bow nearly made me throw up at the end - be warned, it's not pretty.)

There are some good Aussies, you're right, though I have my reservations about the quality of MacIntosh's writing.

Gaiman is now an honourary American - I think we have to let him go.

Eoin Colfer, though he's writing for kids, gives adults a giggle as well.

But if you're looking for good UK fantasy, I'd do that wish list thing on amazon.co.uk rather than amazon.com, and it might pull up a few writers you haven't come across.
