mystery 90's tv sci fi

Hi there,

I'm tring to find out about a specific sci fi prog from the 90's. It was on ITV, and centred around an alien who had come to earth for some reason i cant remember, and took a human form, however, when something went wrong he'd use his alien powers (super strength etc) to help people.

Does anyone else remember this, and if so whats it called, and is it available on dvd at all?

We talking kid's show, or not? American, UK show? An alien in human form that has powers doesn't narrow it down very much. :)

It does sound like a kids show... ITV don't usually show adult stuff like that unless it's a 3 in the morning.

I don't recall anything like that.... do you know if it was early or late 90s?
