just got this email. So I thought I would post it for those interested.

Dear Sue,

Thank you for your message. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply. A
Sword From Red Ice is
finished. I completed it two weeks ago and the manuscript is now with the
publishers. As yet I don’t
have any firm dates, but I expect both the US and UK publishers will bring
out the book quickly. As
soon as I have the exact dates I’ll post them on my website.

The book took longer than I expected to complete. It started out in one
place and ended up
somewhere else entirely. I hope this is a good thing. Raif Sevrance, Effie
Sevrance, Raina Blackhail
and Clan Blackhail, Ash March, and the Dog Lord all go through quite a lot.
Some of which was
unexpected even to me.

I’ll be posting an excerpt from Sword on my website as soon as the
publishers give go ahead,
hopefully within the month. Also, now I have more time I’ll de dusting out
the cobwebs from jvj.com.

Thanks for your patience. I’m really pleased you enjoyed the first two
books in the series.

Best Wishes,
julie

My god, im glad this is finally finished. I know ive not had to wait as long as most here, but i read the first 2 bout a year ago and really enjoyed them.

On a JVJ note, anyone advise what her previous trilogy was like, ive heard it wasnt as impressive but still enjoyable, does that sound right?

Yes!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

The Book of Words trilogy isn't as good as the current series but it's a very entertaining read nevertheless. Do check out the 'Bodger & Grift' excerpts on her website to get an idea of her sense of humor.

Yay!

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting...love this series so far..

I liked her first series - her writing and story telling has grown a lot, which is evident in this recent one, but The Book of Words is definitely enjoyable...

Thanks for the information, Sue (nice to see you here again, btw).

There are quite a few fans waiting for this one. Not quite a wait of GRRM proportions, but still longer than many expected.

I understand JV has had it tough over the last few years, so it's good to see it finished.

Great news - I'd pretty much given up hope on this coming out any time soon (Amazon said that it would be released about two years go, the release date flew by and no news about what was happening with it at all). It's one of the better epic fantasy series, and now at least it looks like its going to be completed.

I had been holding out on starting a Cavern of Black Ice until the third book was finished, so this is good news! I've heard a lot of good things about this trilogy.

Superb news. Note also that the website has been updated at last:

Funny, I've had an order outstanding on amazon for about a year. Just last week I get an email saying that the item would not be available, and that the order was cancelled. And now she finishes it.
I hope it can get through edit and out in 2006!

I read and loved the first one right around the time it was published. When I read the second one about a year ago, I was lost, having not remembered alot of what happened in book 1.

A re-read may be in order.
