I was thinking about Crow yesterday and it occurred to me that Hem and Maerad's journeys follow the same kind of course, if you get my meaning.

They both escape Norloch to other schools and are eventually forced to leave under by covert means, they both head out into the wilderness and are pursued in some way or another. They both lose someone dear to them and then head off on a mission that causes them to discover something about their destinies. They both take shelter in unfamiliar surroundings and while there discover something about their past or future. They both meet Eledhu that give them vital clues to the Treesong. They're both stripped of everything they have and are forced to rely on their own wiles to survive. And, (in what i think to be wonderful bit of symmetry :D) they both met back up with their mentors on mid-winters day.

A lot of the crow spoiler thread is just first impressions of the book. If you guys want I can look through and tell you which page numbers are safe to read?

I don't know what others will think but I say no!! I'll only end up giving in and peeking!! Typical me! I'm dispicable like that

Yeah, I love their journeys! I'm reading The Riddle over at the same time as the Crow over, and they make for great reading together! I especially like the night they both dream of each other in Saliman's garden, and both have different perceptions- for example, Maerad sees Hem cutting some kind of fruit with a wooden handled knife, and Hem sees himself cutting a mango with his clasp knife, and they both see differences in each other.
Which means, that whilst Maerad was in-between Mirka's hut and Murask, Hem was but recently in Nal-Ak-Burat... I like how it gives a point of reference like that :P

Emerald :) :) :)
