You know, one of my favorite rpgs of all time is Diablo II. I really love the backstory to it and the heroes/villains in it. So, naturally, when I've seen the novels based on this game, they've intrigued me, but, as I'm sure all of you know, 97% of the novels based on video games are unspeakably horrid. So I was wondering if anyone had read these novels, and if so, what the quality of them was.

If 97% of the novels based on video games are horrid, then there is a 97% chance these novels will be horrid too.

I don't think there are any. That 3% would be like the Fountain of Youth or Atlantis....much-rumored, never found.

As long as we are talking about games by Blizzard and the novels written based on those games...

I'd love to find a halfway decent book written in the Warcraft world, but from what I read on amazon, they are all terrible.

*sits patiently and waits for the RPG video game novel adaptation renaissance*

Warcraft: Day of the Dragon by Richard A. Knaak isn't the most horrid book I've ever read, but it's a far cry from being ideal.

I've read and own all three of these books and can say they don't provide any backstory to Diablo at all.

In fact, I didn't really like them. Out of the three, Legacy of Blood was the one I remember and liked the best.

I couldn't get into the characters at all.

As for books to games and the whole backstory thing, the Doom series was by far the best.

i think most books, based on these type of games are a real let down. Its like most movies based off books fail to live up to the hype.

Or even worse, video games that completely skip books and go straight to movies
