This topic (turning Magician into a movie) is a HUGE passion of mine. This year for my independant study in film i have chosen to turn Magician: Apprentice into a script. I have about 10 pages so far and am at the point in the book where Pug begins to learn to ride, after the Choosing.

I also plan to have a storyboard to go along with the script and will probably use still images with actors greenscreened in. I have a severe lack of anything remotely called talent in the drawing department so i'm asking anyone who can draw if they can draw some sketches of people, places or things from the novel. If i do go on the make this script a reality they would be invaluable to production and i would of course give the artist full credit. I don't plan to use any of the drawings in my final project either.

Thanks guys,

Jack

I CANNOT DRAW FOR ****!!!!

Now that thats out of the way... Cool! Ive long thought about what magician would be like adapted into screenplay... It's wierd because in europe Magician is released in one volume "Magician", not two.

ANYWAY the point of this reply is moral support!

GO ON YOU GOOD THING!

Would be a top project, but I think hard to top the scetches shown in the new comic...

you need to find some one that can draw allready and talk then into reading Magician...

I will pose the same questions when another member attempted to publicize their writing, please take a look at another topic:

Gemmel Waylander Movie (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12692).

Has Raymond Feist granted you permission to use his story and characters in your film?

I do not think that the shadowcraft team asked for permission, the guy who is doing the comic has people that can draw really well their pictures of the characters are really good.

Yes, the comic being published by the Dabel Brothers is fully endorsed by Raymond E. Feist, I know that.

This particular topic is not about the comic, it is about a fan's script and movie. My question was if JimmytheHand had Feist's permission to do the script/film, I didn't mention the comic at all.

Interesting. We've been considering a copyright issue at work, and I noted as an aside, that study and research didn't require permission as long as it wasn't released commercially. Is that incorrect? If jimmythehand just did a project for school/college/uni, would it be a problem? It would be a shame as Magician is such a marvellous book and would make a marvellous but very long film.
