Fantasy Art : Thumbs Up

I've decided, just for fun, to make a thread exactly opposite to the "Thumbs Down Thread".
So, tell me, what fantasy authors do you like?
Here's my list:

John Howe (This guy, in my opinion is the best LOTR artist out there!! I especially enjoy his Balrog paintings!)
Michael Whelan (To me, he is practically the master of fantasy art. His Elric paintings rock!!)
Brom (although I don't care for his paintings of his so-called "fetish babes", I thoroughly enjoy the sword & sorcery and horror art that he does. He's definitely one of the masters of horror and fantasy art!)
Matt Stawicki, Larry Elmore, and Jeff Easley (these guys produce some of the greatest Dragonlance Art out there!!)
Frank Frazetta (the master of gritty sword & sorcery art!!)

i havent been here in a while, but this thread surely has. it was here the last time i was, like many months ago, and it still doesnt have any replys. so i think i will....
i dont really have any favourite artists yet, but i love fantasy art. i did buy some tea, though, just becuase it had some fad pictures on it. (oh yea, and it came with a free collectable tin!) it was *magic mint* and the pics were by ?Branlt branlds? or something along that line. i looked him up and alls i could find was a whole bunch of useless paintings of cats. how dissapointing.

whops. if anyone cares or is wondering, that "fad pictures" up there is supposed to say rad pictures.

Mod Note: you can actually go back and edit any mistakes you may make in a post by clicking the http://www.sffworld.org/forums/images/edit.gif underneath your post... trust me... I use it a LOT!!! :D

What about Boris Vallejo ?
There is a kind of gloomy atmosphere hanging around in his paintings, isn't it.
Interesting.
His women are done very good too.
I just looked at a few websites featuring his artwork and it felt very real. Not hard at all to imagine these are real existing beings.

Zsinj16,

John Howe (This guy, in my opinion is the best LOTR artist out there!! I especially enjoy his Balrog paintings!)

I think I have to agree with you.
I just found this website :

Indeed, his work is amazing.
The quality of light he achieves, that soft blue haze, is just incredible ; look for example at this picture :

Sparfonk.... you can see tons and tons of Tolkien based artwork at www.arthistory.cc.

All the usual big names are there, along with a few not quite so well known.
