Any One know the name of this old Si Fi Movie

;) Years ago I remember an old black and white si fi movie. It started out
with a few scientist doing an experiment and one of the components blows up. They order a new one and when it arives it is many times smaller than what they expected. There was also a catalog with the part so they order this machine, it arrived, they put iy together and communicate with aliens.
The aliens then flow them to a unknown place in a airplane with no windows are a pilot. This is about all I remember about it.
If any one can I would appreciate it.

Not B&W,but it sounds like This Island Earth to me. Slightly cheesy, but a lot of fun -it has the Metaluna Mutant so how bad could it possibly be??!!
