For those of you who have never heard of Sawney Bean, here's a quick link...

http://www.seanachaidh.org/sawney.htm

I always wondered why this story (be it myth or otherwise) has never been adapted for film.

Wrong Turn, Wolf Creek and Hills have Eyes to name a few, have all been similar in theme, but Sawney Bean would make a bloody great film, in every sense of the word.

My mother told me about it over 20 years ago and I'm surprised it hasn't materialised onto the big screen.

A good British Indy director like Danny Boyle would be great for this.

Ahh Scottish cannibals, would make wonderful viewing.

This was covered in a fortean times issue, waaaaaaay back last year, it made for some good reading.

Hmmm...Not sure why I read that as I am a chicken and cannot watch horror films. I'm usually ok with stories and books though but this creeped me out. My one question is though Kahn...Where is this desert in Scotland they speak of?
:)

I guessing it was either a typo for "deserted", or they are using another definition of "desert" which apparently is...

" A region of permanent cold that is largely or entirely devoid of life"
