Cant believed I missed this topic..:/
The Videsss Cycle by Harry Turtledove has some great battle scenes. Espically Calvary vs Infantry. Ya'd think Calvary would win.. Guess again, this novel shows how extensive the tatics of Roman Legionnaire's can be.
Great series (4 books).. Never read anything else by Turtledove, but, I've noticed that he has many books taht deal with war.
Hawkwood's Journey - Paul Kearney. It's has some interesting scenes of battle. The first book seems to touch mostly on the after -effects of a battle, dealing with refugee's, but, I suspect the later books, battles will be joined. I think this series is only avail in the U.K. right now..
