Judging by your handle, I don't think I could have ever guessed the first series on your list.

Favourite series would include the Discworld novels and The Darwatch novels.

Mine would have to be the Chronicles of Amber, The Riftwar Saga, the Engines of Light trilogy (but that's sci-fi), and I've got a feeling that the Books of the New Sun will be outstanding.... I also really enjoyed the Wind on Fire trilogy when I read it a number of years ago.

Hi Galadriel,

I like all the same series as you, Lord of the Rings being my favorite. David Eddings was great when I read him, 10 years ago (god, that makes me feel old! But I'm only 25), but these days I think of Eddings pales compared to many other great series.

If you haven't already seen these names, I'd HIGHLY recommend George R R Martin's series 'a Song of Ice and Fire', Robin Hobb's 'Farseer Trilogy' (and 2 more trilogies if you enjoy it), and Steven Erikson's series 'the Malazan Book of the Fallen'.

I cant agree with you more. Song of Ice and Fire is already an classic so it is an must read (although you might want to wait for 4th book before reading the series), but I have just finished 4th book in Malazan empire series and it was absolutly awesome read. By far the best epic fantasy I have read, I would even call it grand fantasy due to all characters that it manages to involve and involve them truly. Highly reccomended read. You are going to cry and laugh reading this one. Each book has 4-5 different story lines that unite towards the end - and the best part, everything is fluidly connected and each book has its own ending - one part that i dont like about GRRM's work.

Every book I have read from Robin Hobb has been delight as well, and highly reccomended.

I have read so many fantasy books that I cant remember 1/10th of them, but Malazan books and Hobbs work are just delight to read and highly reccomended to anyone who wants to get involved deeply into the book, yet entertain themself to the fullest possible extent.

Favorite fantasy series...um, could take a while, but here's the short version, Katherine Kerr's Deverry series, Katherine Kurtz' Deyneri trilogies(several), Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant trilogies, Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series, Robert Aspirin's Mything Adventures series, the first seven novels in Piers Anthony's Xanth series, C J Cherryh's Fortress series and C S Friedman's Coldfire trilogy(though you could make an arguement that it is really a scifi trilogy).
