Favourite Character/Race

Here is a new "favourite" topic.
Who or what(!) was your favourite character from a book that you have read, and what made that character stand out?
Also, what race is your fave?

My favorite character would have to be Legolas from LORs, as I've always loved folk histories and myths, and the love of nature and the outdoors made me feel akin (if that's the right word) to the tales of elves. Also I used to believe in Fairies when I was younger!!!!!!!

Wow, I could write pages and pages describing my favorite characters. I'll try to keep it just too a few, because its impossible to name just one.

Thomas Covenant from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I loved the struggles he went through; fighting against the real world, his disease, himself, and his enemies in the fantasy world.

Raistlin Majere - from Dragonlance. The whole mystique about him was great. Its nice to know a character so well; yet understand him so poorly.

There are tons of others that I should mention, but I'll hold off for now.

I don't think I have a favorite 'race'. I tend to prefere the 'races' that are created by authors as opposed to the fantasy standards (not that there's anything wrong with those either).

A tough choice! My favorite fantasy character
is either:
Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake or
Goodkind's Richard Rahl
favorite sf character is David Weber's Honor Harrington.

Hmmm, well, my favorite character isn't exactly a character, it is more an animal. The Questing Beast, from The Once and Future King by E.B. White. By far my favorite thing in fantasy.
Oh yes, and Micon from THe FAll Of Atlantis, by M.Z. Bradley.

I woul dhave to say Zifnab from the Death Gate books goes down as one of my favourites simply because of his humour. Also up there is John Ross from Brooks' Demon series.
And as far as race goes, I've always had a soft spot for Dwarves.

My favorite character? Well, one off the top of my head is Keyoke from Empire series by Wurts and Feist!

Joshua from the Dragon Bone series was also very cool.. !Xabbu and Renie from Otherland series...

I think Tad Williams has done an excellent job with the interaction of !Xabbu and Renie. Can't wait till Sea of Silver Light comes out.

My favourite races are elves, but humans who don't age work just as well. ^^;;
