I found myself in a very fortunate position of having an Advance Readers Copy of Terry's upcoming release, Armageddon's Children. For those not aware Armageddon's Children is the long waited new trilogy that WILL connect both The Word Void novels and Shannara novels together.

I have always considered Word and Void to be Terry's best work. It doesnt carry the weight and fan base as his Shannara story but I'm a huge fan of urban fantasy and gobble the stuff up like a turkey!

What a wondrous delight when I found out that Terry was returning to the Word Void universe - and what an even bigger surprise when I found out that he was going to tie that world together with his Shannara works.

Word Void takes place on our earth, after the fall of man. More or less the entire world has fallen into a post apocalyptic state...demons run free, and humans have barricaded themselves up in makeshift bunkers of safety. False security runs rampant, the novel is pretty bleak...and as always Terry presents his characters with a silver lining. As elusive as it may be. There is hope, and there is a way to retain the thread of humanity...but for the time being that seems more like a dream...or a sliver of a possibility! More important matters are at hand - simply surviving...finding a safe place to sleep, or uncontaminated food to eat takes precedence over anything else.

I don't want to give anything away, but this is some of Terry's best work to date. Its refreshing to step out of the fantasy trappings of his Shannara story, but yet in a way still leave our toes dangling there in that universe. The hinting of things to come...and the subtle sign posts that Terry drops to reveal that a more Shannara like world lies ahead is just a barrel of fun to read and experience.

The novel comes out August 29th...and trust me, its worth the read!

Does that mean the characters from the void and the shannara series are in the same book? and both worlds are somehow connected?

September? Neat. W&V is my favourite out of the lot (and my first Brooks book after SW: Episode 1) so I have high-ish hopes.

when I read the summary, it didn't have any relation with "the angel fire east" (vol. 3 of Running with demon).

Yes, it will connect Word/Void with Shannara. Brooks recently stated that he believes this new series will last 7 or 8 books...He's trying to cover a 1000 year timespan.
