I enjoy reading books on writing. Whether they are specific to a genre, inspirational, focusing on the mechanics, whatever. I find I take something away from each of them. What I have found however, is most of these books rarely focus on the short story. Does anyone have a favorite or can recommend a good book exclusively on short story writing?
After a ton of novels that sputtered and died I think I should try and get a few short stories actually completed. I realize some of the general books on writing cover everything.

Damon Knight's Creating Short Fiction is very good, and goes into some great detail about interweaving the various neccessary story elements to craft something taut and effecient.
