In the late 1990's, I read a novel about a fictional near future where antitrust violations were punishable by death. The book was about an antitrust case pending in the courtroom of a judge who was anxious to convict. As I recall, he was also a fan of poisonous spiders or tarantulas and kept one in his chambers.
