I need advice on publishing work via the internet

Hello, I'm a writing and editing student in Victoria, Australia and i'm doing research for an asignement on the basics of getting your work published on the internet, wether that be a book, artical, whatever.

But, for the sake of the question, say i wanted to publish a book on the internet, could someone out there give me some tips or sugestions on websites to visit?

I have to give a class speach on the subject you see, so any help would be much apreciated! :)

No problems, there are plenty of experienced people around here who could answer more specific question if you have them otherwise good luck reading through all that :D
