Dazzlinkat September 28th, 2006, 01:51 PM Yes, I admit I am terribly spoiled with the volume of pics you pop out :p
How far is this new book along? This the book or graphic novel?
Beware your percolating brain ... it might end up like HE's :D
Radthorne September 28th, 2006, 05:11 PM How far is this new book along? This the book or graphic novel?
This is the novel; I'm nearly done with getting the outline in shape, as well as having most of the first four chapters in rough draft. I got sidetracked with another novel for about 9 months before deciding it needed to be shelved, and am now back to work on a third Tonogato book. I've had some marvelous editorial input from a third party who will, I think, aid me greatly in making sure the new book is fully up to snuff.
Beware your percolating brain ... it might end up like HE's :D

Rocket Sheep September 28th, 2006, 06:48 PM A third party? If you're the first party of the first part... that means there's a second party of the second part but I suspect it's Lise who is actually a second party of the first part, so who is the third party and is it a third party of the first part or the second part or the third part or perhaps even a fourth part?
OR, to simplify...
Who do you trust with your ms?

 And one wonders why people get so confused by obfuscatory sheep?
Lise is indeed the second party of the first part (I think... ). As for the third party (which is of the first part, given the fundamental assistance I'm receiving with the outline), I haven't been given liberty to speak names (meaning I probably shouldn't have mentioned it in the first place, but you know how it is when you're on vacation... watching the sunset through the trees, as I am doing at this moment, with the golden light sliding effortlessly through cedar fronds, casting delicate dappled shadows...) Oh, wait, sorry, forgot I was talking to the Sheep... What were you saying? Something about a fourth part? No, this is only the third book... I think that's what you asked... wasn't it?
Pretty sunset here; did I mention that? :)
Rocket Sheep September 29th, 2006, 12:45 AM Lucky bugger... and I mean that most sincerely.
And as for the fourth part... if the first part is you, and the second an independant editor and the third is the publisher's editor, then the fourth would be a reviewer, and as your number one reviewer... the one who got a review into a very classy emag, remember... then the fourth part would be me... no matter which volume you are up to (are you deliberately trying to drag this conversation off track?) And I know you don't trust me with your ms.
So you have an unameable second part, eh? The cedar trees thicken...
My unameable second part is Sarah Endacott, Edit or Die... who is clearly not unameable, but the dimensions she can see in any story are just astounding, and her ability to smack me over the head with things that ruin the story is also astounding. Her talent knows no limits except the ability to do anything for herself. She undercharges terribly and she doesn't need extra work because the business sector has fallen in love with her editorial talents and her forthright manner, but I like to sing her praises just the same. I wish I could hire her for every story.
Now back to the sunset... is this golden sunset cedar-flavoured where you are or do you actually have to cut cedar down before you can smell it?
Radthorne September 29th, 2006, 01:17 AM Thank you. And your superb reviewing skills are naturally foremost in my mind - in fact, when said volume is completed, you know what will be showing up on your doorstep down there in sunny Australia... (Hah! Walked right into that one, you did... :D ). And while I know reviewing did not end up being your cup of tea, I was quite pleased (and continually grateful) for the excellent and fair reporting you did on my first tome.
But, would I have you do a manuscript edit versus a review? Hmm... let me see now... You've trained HE, and that bloke is here telling me my Chinese vase patterns are not quite up to snuff... No, perhaps if I want to actually finish said book and not tear my hair out in an agony of "It's not good enough yet to be seen in public!" I will persevere in my blissful ignorance, for therein lies the true path to happiness. :) Besides, I prefer to read the shocked Sheepie reaction to my words after they're in print ("He didn't write that, did he???"), since it's much more fun that way!
And no, I don't have to chop down any cedars to enjoy the view. In fact, I was sitting in the second floor writing area in my little home-away-from-home (you will recall that one, which was a-building some time ago), gazing out at as the sun was casting its rays of lights through all the trees within my view. Usually at this time of year here things have already gone all gray and drizzle, but thanks to global warming we still have sun. And it's quite a new view than what I'm used to seeing - quite lovely if I don't think about what's causing it!
Anyway, speaking of HE, and since it's too late to start a new picture - here's an old one fixed up. I've added some leaves on the table, and re-oriented the ones outside a bit to look more floaty. I worked a lot on the glass in the window, BrianC, but never could get it the way I wanted; but at least some of that confusing pattern behind it is taken care of.
And what of poor HE? Well, one has to draw the line somewhere... I'm afraid we'll just have to live with the poor girl's questionable taste in ceramics... ;)

Rocket Sheep September 29th, 2006, 06:47 AM I didn't so much "train" HE as "scar him mentally"... but I've learned my lesson now.
You notice global warming? I can grow bananas... and at $17 a kilo (banana crisis) I'm going to!
When can I expect the book?
Hereford Eye September 29th, 2006, 07:55 AM Ahem! If you two need a room to keep this private, then please get one otherhoo the old guy in the desert, dispenser of tiny truths, mutterer of half-truths and other expletives, and the finest mind this side of the road, could take the notion to feel abused by friendly fire.
If there is a manuscript about to be floated and folk are going to get a peak at it then the ancient of ancients would not be offput to receive such a copy with the clear understanding that receipt assigns responsibility to provide proper feedback.
That is first person POV, as the Sheep once scarred...er...taught me, as opposed to the last person POV assigned to me in the previous post. Harrumphh!!!;)
I like the picture, Mr. Radthorne, sir, very much except for the mis-matched vases and a new conundrum just noticed: Behind the PYL, to her left, are two jagged brown lines. My first thought was that they are cross frames for the table legs but, while there are two of them on her left side, there is only one on her right side and that one is snaking all across the screen. Hard to imagine a floor with jagged support frames but that could be my paucity of experience with respect to floor types.
Radthorne September 29th, 2006, 09:18 AM No, no, that friendly fire was Sheepie lobbing POV mortar shells on one of your recent manuscripts... ("Remember, first person omnivorous! It's the only acceptable style for people of quality and taste... so to speak...")
Well, it will be quite some time before Tonogato III is viewable, since most if it isn't written yet. However, once it has emerged from the wooly cocoon that passes for my mind, rest assured that you two in particular will be foremost in line for commentary. Of course, by then the party of the third will have hopefully beat the thing into submission (or at least into submissional quality) (like that, eh?).
Yes, those are actually the supports for the nesting tables along that wall. Apparently their designer did not feel it necessary for them to all have the same pattern.
Dazzlinkat September 29th, 2006, 10:46 AM And maybe by the time you have it beaten enough to send to them, they will forget all about the Mysterious Third, er, Fourth, umm ... Fifth, oh, heck, Some Number?
As for the unmatching tables .... they go perfectly with her unmatched vases.
