Thanks, cheese and Rhein (hmm, sounds like a party dish...) :D
Our dancer has been transported out of the Cardboard Wood and joined by a compadre, and the scene is now entitled "Fair Dancers".

KatG in bed: Very nice expression on her face suggesting both her illness and her discomfort with a monkey in her bedroom. The stars circling her head indicate the mild curiosity that your book has grown from A Format to Crown Royal size. But, I betcha Her Greatness wears a nightgown.:D
Seeker of the Mystery: you want to know why her eyes are closed? imagine the weight of that contraption affixed to her back; imagine trying to maintain you balance. Imagine trying to pass through a door. Imagine trying to sit down. She's trying to imagine all those things and it just isn't working. The designer probably didn't realize it's the male peacock that spreads its feathers.
Fair Dancers: A morality play, no doubt, where single mother has brought her daughter to the workplace and said daughter cannot resist getting in on the act. Compounding the situation, little girl is observing and dreaming of her time on the stage. Meanwhile, man is looking to separate himself from the few bills he has stashed in his cuff that his wife doesn't know he has.
With my resolution I cannot tell for certain whether the little girl has her hand to her chin as if pondering the situation or she is sucking her thumb. I also assume her left hand is holding her father's tunic but it may be a little too low to accomplish that feat.
That's an interesting composition, Rad. Good work.
Oops! Just noticed the green harness thingie. First glance made it part of the girl's top but the separation between the material of the strap and the material of the top at the base of the top seems to indicate otherwise which prompts the question: what the hell is that all about?

Thank you, sir. :) The little girl actually is clutching his tunic; the lower part of the hem is a darker color than the bulk of the fabric. Where the little girl is standing, it obscures most of the separation between his tunic and his leggings.
Good catch on the harness thingie; I had missed that. It's some sort of supporting structure for the blouse, and the area you noticed was where the blouse was poking through due to the figure's pose. I've fixed that in Photoshop and re-posted above.

For those of you awaiting a revised version of the original dragon book picture used for Justin's book cover... here it is. The chains have been re-colored, and the dragon's eyes re-oriented.

The uncertain look on my face is because I just found out I have mild pneumonia. So I am now on the blessed antibiotics. (I would not have survived in another age.)
The lady with the lights scares me. I think I liked the dancer better in the forest. Now the picture seems too distracting. The dragon-book picture is very cool.

  All and sundry who frequent my forum are herewith directed to package up into convenient parcels your thoughts of good health and to telepathically send them to her highness Katherine the Great, upon pain of enduring a serious discourse by Hereford Eye on the origin of peanut butter and how it led to the downfall of the Roman Republic.
Fortunately, Kat, you are present in the current age, and so you are better slated to survive. This is, as they say, a good thing... Rest up and rejoin us once the phlegm phlood had subsided... ;)

Been away for the weekend, but - back now!
This is just a test, experimenting with lighting and shadows...

Bright skin, freaky eyes. Why doesn't she cast a shadow on the door and wall behind her? Looks like the light is pointed that way and she be blocking some of it. Nice shading on the character, though.

There are actually 11 lights in this scene: nine 'global illumination' lights and a couple of spotlights to bring out the highlights. All of the global lights are up high and pointing down, and as such the shadows are underneath things (her hands, her feet, her chin, etc.) rather than on the doors behind her. The doors are also about 10 feet or so behind her, which may not be entirely evident from this angle.
