I was recently recommended Elizabeth Haydon as a good author. Has anyone read her stuff? Is it any good? What is the style like? Thanks for your help.

For starters it is HAYDON.

I have both of her books and I really enjoyed both of them. I thought the 2nd, Prophecy was better, but it was her second book. The first one, Rhapsody is available in paperback right now, give it a try.

The world is pretty detailed, the characters, for the most part, are entertaining and I was intrigued by what was going to happen to them. The mythology she invokes is good as well. The only drawback is that the main character comes across as too naive at times.

I actually posted a review of Rhapsody on the review section of the site Review of Rhapsody by Rob B (http://www.sffworld.com/authors/h/haydon_elizabeth/reviews/rhapsody.html)

Sorry for the misspell.
Thanks for your reply. I read your review and it sounds like a really good book. I'll definetely have to give it a try.

Have read each book in Eliz. Haydon's series of the character "Rhapsody".....have been anxiously awaiting the next one - initially thought there was only going to be three - then it was four, then five, etc: - each one has been excellent - had been sucked in to Robert Jordan's 11 book series - and sadly awaiting the last one which may never happen - have been reading Terry Goodkind's series as well - but I really like Elizabeth's characters and story-line the best.

Does anyone know if Hayden will be releasing another book? I know "The Assassin King" was supposed to be the first in another trilogy, but it looks like her own web site as well as Wikipedia pages are collecting dust and have not been updated for a long time. This is one of the series that I made the mistake of starting before it was finished, so now I'm hangin'...

She seems to be putting out a series of children's books right now called The Lost Journals of Ven Polypheme.

I wish she would get back to the Symphony though and at least wrap it up....!

I totally agree. I loved the first 3 books, (Destiny is my fav). The next 3 were just as good, and now I'm waiting!!! I wish she would hurry up or at least give us a hint that she will be starting up again or should I say finishing the story.

On a side note, Robert Jordan's final book is co-authored and split into 3 the first entitled "The Gathering Storm" out on November 3rd of this year.
