Exactly! I thought a forum called Absolut Write would've mentioned the benefits of vodka to the reluctant muse, but noooOoooo... the thing about the Hill agency is pretty stunning too. ;)

It's like looking at a train wreck, really.

I do feel for the folk caught up in this, but one of the first things I was told when I started writing was, never pay to have either your work read, or represented.

It's sad so many have had their dreams shattered.

The original thread gets stranger and stranger.

Also, is it me, but a lot of posters on that forum (the rest of it) seem a bit agressive in nature???

The saga goes on.

This week it comes as a complete surprise to a publisher to find out this scammy agent has been dealing with them:

With a few more pointers on things agents and publishing houses do not do.

You just have to get used to it :D

I'm a member of several writing forums (I enjoy them all, btw) and they're all completely (and surprisingly) different in tone for some reason. Perhaps the Bewares and Backgrounds section of Absolute Write simply encourages slighly snarkier responses? Or... er... something.
