Anybody got any idea what Terry Goodkind got paid for Wizard's First Rule? (1st book in the Sword of Truth series.)

Couldn't agree with Llama any more, he got paid far too much.

Honestly, though, I think he set a record for a first time novelist when rights to WFR were sold.

What sort of ballpark figure are we talking here? Half a million dollars, a million dollars?

Anybody got any idea?

I read on a site something about $6 million for something or rather. There was link in a post a couple of months back about what the best writers earn.

I believe, for the first book alone, he was paid somewhere in the area of $85,000.

The BEST writers? Not very helpful, then.

Half a million I think, or it was quarter a million. It's a record of a honorary for a debute fantasy novel.

I think he owes me at least that much in punitive damage (pain and suffering) resulting from reading that horrid, reaking, awful collection of stolen ideas and overused cliches.

Hmm....was that out loud?
