I have been looking for several months for a trilogy of fantasy books that I read several years ago. If someone could help me figure out what the titles or author is, I would very much apprecaite it.
Here is what I know about the books:

-the author is a woman
-the main character of the story is a girl who posesses magical powers and it follows her through her life as she takes her throne
-the powers used by people in the story are named after jewels e.g. a person who has amethyst power isnt very strong, but someone who has onyx power is
-there are 2 main men that are in the story, one of them falls in love and is the protector of the main girl
-there are many characters that are very dark such as a man known as The Sadist

Sounds like the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop. The first book is Daughter of the Blood.

Yep. Probably Anne Bishop.

Though I never have trouble finding books I've read before. Everytime I read a good book, I write it down in a list. So If i ever feel the need to reread a series, or an author releases a new book, I can find the series, even if I read it years ago. ;)

Yes, definately "The Black Jewels Trilogy" by Anne Bishop. Loved those books and the one after them to round them out, "Dreams Made Flesh." Right now in fact I am reading "Sebastian" by Bishop. I am liking it enough to read the sequel when it comes out, but not as much as the jewels books.

Well, you're in luck. You can now order Bishop's trilogy in one of those collected omnibus.

I swear, despite the fact that me gf already has the complete series, I'm constantly lured by these omnibuses because... you know, they're a complete.
