Is your question about Matthew Stover's fiction or are you just looking for Recommendations (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8580) (Blends of Sci-fi and Fantasy (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2541), Alternative Fantasy (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2866))?

well problem is that what i like i find in mix genre not because i like it more than fantasy it is only that fantasy is in overproduction. many people say if you like Erikson or Bakker than you would probobbly like china or guy gavriel . Well i acctually like books with compllex story, but high action story and interesting magic sistem, nice writting. So Herbart's Dune, stover and Tales of Malazan and even pure fantasy like GRRM are actually only books i really enjojed. Here are some that were good but not great - made me feel rather indifferent, mostlly becaouse
1) to childish
2) plot was boring
3) shalow charachters
the point is by elimination i came to conclusion that i liked - prince of nothing, heroes die, briar king series, GRRM, Erikson...aAnne rice - one book - vampire Lestat...and DUNE...thoose are serious, there is mostlly no elfs, nice writtiing...
it is like comparing Fleming to John. Le Carre in this genre...
-curse of challion (bujold)
-abhorsen (garth nix)
-sarantine m. (guy gavriel)-
-stephenie meyer
-perdito street station(not bad)
-j. strange and
-scott card
-gaiman
-glen cook
-farland
-goodkin
-hambly
-e. haydon
-dave duncan
-hobb
-chalker
-coopre s.
-cooper l.
-donaldson
-moorckok
-moon
-lackey
-bishop
-pullman
-piers
-wolfe
-williams
- le guin
-abbey lin
-kearney
-russel
-clemens
-lian
-green simon r.
-roberson
-bradley,anderson,chabon,butcher....brust,baker,drr ake,kurtz,salvatore,shayne maggie,saberhagen,may,wells, vernon,lora leigh,gareood,king...

Ah, well ... I'd like to finally get my hands on a copy of Blade of Tyshalle first. For some reason, it's not a book that's easy to come by.
