Happy New Year, everyone!
Now's the time to tell us of all those Fantasy books you've received as Christmas presents, or all those books you've bought in the sales ... should keep you busy!
Fantasy had a pretty strong year in 2006; let's hope 2007 is even better!
But what else? This month's Fantasy Book Club nomination is Darker Than You Think by (the much-missed) Jack Williamson. Discuss it HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15632).
This month's SF Book Club nomination is To Say Nothing but the Dog by Connie Willis: discuss it HERE. (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15628)
Spread the word!

Charlie Huston's Already Dead is very good book. Now the problem is that the first one was good enough to make me very interested in the second one...and I need to get the second book ASAP. Right now I am like a desperate junkie looking for his next fix...
Man, I need to learn to maybe just get all the books for a series that I am enjoying.

I'm reading some novellas in the Legends anthologies -- a Discworld story with Granny Weatherwax, and two by Tad Williams, one from Otherland and one from Memory Sorrow and Thorn.
I was almost hoping I wouldn't like them, but I do, so now I'll be book shopping, and finding nice hardcovers of these books won't be easy, or cheap.

Legends 1 (HB) is quite nice in HB:
(US edition:)

UK edition had a reversible cover:
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/P/0002256665.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1056411257_.jpg and
second cover (from a paperback edition here, but the picture is still the same).

On balance the US edition of Legends1 is probably nicer as it has coloured end papers and illustrations through the book: the UK one doesn't.
As for Legends II:
US edition:
http://www.majipoor.com/images/legends2_2003.jpg and a nicer UK cover:

(Bad image doesn't do it justice!)
There are also some very nice (but VERY expensive) signed copies about too. ;)
Hope this helps!

I'm reading David Wellington's very enjoyable Monster Island which he serialized online (I bought the print edition). You can read it here (http://www.brokentype.com/monster/). Just good zombie fun.

I'm glad I snagged both of these in HC when they were released. There's a lot to like in both of them; I had originally bought both of them only for the GRRM novellas, but I did like a bunch of the other stories.

Why are UK covers always better looking?
Anyways, sometimes I muddle my posts.
I have the Legends books in hardcover firsts (with Mylar covers even!), so what I'm searching for now are decent hardcovers of the Pratchett and Williams books. :)
