Weird Topic, but...Sleepy?

I am curious if I am the only person afflicted with this dreaded habit/disease.

DO you get sleepy when you read? Even if you have gotten lots of sleep?

I do.. Alot..and it really bothers me. I sit down, want to read for a few hours, and I end up sleeping half it away.

Any suggestions? Besides putting ice cubes in my drawers! =)

I only have that problem when I am reading factual text books (or when my husband wants sex!!!)
I work nights, and I read to keep myself awake. I can read half a book a night if the shift is not busy!

I also have that problem, but not all the time. When I was younger I could stay up all night reading if I was interested in the book. Lately it seems the only ones I can read late at night is Wheel of Time and only when it was the first time through. I especially have that problem when I read my text books. I found that sitting on a chair while reading rather then lying on the bed helps, although if it is a science book I will probably still fall asleep

I have the problem as well. With me, its usually in the early evening (7 or 8 pm), I have to struggle to stay awake if I start reading. I usually try to just get up and walk around for a minute (and juice up on sodas) when I feel my eyes drooping down. Naturally it doesn't always work.

Sorry to boast guys, but I don't have this problem unless I'm really burning hte midnight oil. Generally I have the exact opposite problem where I don't feel tired while reading, and afterwards I can't get to sleep because I'm thinking about what I just read.

Lately I have been getting tired sometimes when I read, esp just before I go to sleep.

I guess that is part of having to go to work everyday and all that fun stuff.

When I was in High School and College, I would stay up until 5 am reading a book, usually a book a night. Alas, the days of youth.

Give me a book and I'll sleep...
no matter how interesting it is, after some time my eyes keep falling shut and I have to force them open again (THIS only in case of good books!)

When I'm reading something really good I have trouble going to sleep. Other books will put me to sleep quickly though.

Off topic, but certain scenes in movies I will watch when I want to go to sleep too. Usually conversational scenes with low pitch voices. It can be very relaxing, kind of like when I get my hair cut.

Generaly, I read late at night (2-3) to get some sleep, when I cannot. Otherwise, I don't feel sleepy when I read. When a book doesn't interest me, I just feel frustrated, but never sleepy.

I'm with Bardos... I cannot sleep if I don't have a book, but it has its downside if the book is too good, I can't put the book down then, and end up totally bombed out when I have to get up.
