LOL, TLWSHLWY hasn't read any of your stories? Okay, if it takes a little bit of artwork to get her to read your words, then I guess that's what we need to do! :D

Back now and will try to download it soon. It will be my first download buy -- very exciting. Will let you know how it goes.

I was going through Amazon's recommendation and, lo, and behold, there was volume II of The Road to Kotaishi. Getting that up on Amazon took some doing, huh?
So, when is the next book arriving in our negihborhood - or at least where and when we can purchase it?

Amazon continues to be a mystery to most... I certainly have never figured out how they do things, why some books are discounted and others are not.

The next book, The Pool of Shikama, s is almost here! It should be available in a couple of weeks at the latest. It's already listed on Amazon, although not in stock yet and without covers. And the listing for Part 2 is messed up - it has the wrong price, and a dummy placeholder review for some reason. Hopefully that will all get squared away before the book is actually launched.

I will also be completely replacing my website as part of the launch, which I will announce here once it's all up. It will have a new and improved artwork gallery; a new sample chapter from the The Pool of Shikama; additional links (including to your site); and a blog. (Yes, I am going to succumb to having a blog, although I can't guarantee it will have anything interesting to say...)

Stay tuned for more news...

Radical Thorn, sir:
With all due respect to your talent and your work ethic, I have recently become aware of a fact of life of which you are evidently not aware. This post will rectify your sorry state.
The issue is that you have not acquired (or absconded with) the proper title. Observe this website:
http://www.graphiste-illustrateur.com/
I am not impressed by the Brit spelling of illustrator but, my-oh-my, look at the Graphiste. Now there is a title worth donning. Please consider a small change to your own site to identify yourself more properly with the elite statra of artists to which you certainly must belong.

You're welcome!

Thank you; I think that would be a mighty fine title (if perhaps a bit pretentious for one of my still quite humble abilities). I might more appropriately be called, in some circles, an artschtick. :D

I see that the last entry in this thread prior to yours was way back in March! So in case anyone is now reading this one, do be aware that yes, The Pool of Shikama is indeed out and available, and yes, my website was re-done. Although I am presently fixing it up, since I learned recently that it doesn't display properly on wide screen monitors (like the one I recently bought). But it is a page by page process of fixing, and while I am almost done I'm not quite there...

Are you using any OTS software package or writing from scratch?
Originally, I used FrontPage2002 to build our site. After two computer crashes I decided to re-build the place. Using Avanquest's WebEasy7 I have 215 pages re-built as a document. Trying to build the HTML, the program goes off into never-never land. I seem to have accumulated the requisitie number of HTML and CSS pages but the build package refuses to finish its processing so I don't have a site that I can load. Avanquest's tech support folk are very slow in responding to questions so while I hypothesize that my file is just too big I am condemned to waiting for an answer to the maximum page size question.
It's frustrating because I really like the new look better than the old.
Oh yeah, I lost my FP2002 program so I am handicapped in my ability to update the current site.
If you say you are writing from scratch, in addition to being bitterly jealous of such skill, I am going to be officially miffed as well.

Well, it's sorta half and half. I use a package to help me build it, but I am creating the pages myself. The package is Namo Web Editor 2006, which I bought earlier this year to replace an old version of Dreamweaver I had. It has nice multi-view panes, where you can see the HTML and the visual layout, and also do a preview. Plus it's fairly cheap.

Most of my site is just HTML tables, but with the new version I built this year I added some new Javascript bits, such as the menu pull downs and the Lightbox process for the artwork gallery. Both of these were free things available on the web. I've also been picking the brain of our web interface guy at work to help with the things that are currently busted for wide-screen displays. He gave me another bit of code to use that I'll apply to my pages next week, and hopefully the site will now look better on wide monitors (important, since Her Greatness just got one and I have to look good for her, you know...)

I don't actually have any CSS on my site, since I've never quite figured it all out, so you certainly don't need to be envious of what I've got! :D

You two are so helping me if I ever do a website, as I don't have a clue about anything you both just said. :)

Some nice artwork there on that person's site. Some of it reminded me of yours, Kev. I usually call you a graphics artist or computer graphics artist.

Yes, that guy is really pretty good - he also covers quite a range of subject matter. And because he's painting the stuff he can do a lot more with big, wide backgrounds too, which lend themselves more to some of the action sequences. Once I get bored with the portraits I'm sure I'll start trying to do some more complex pieces (but, of course, they also take considerably longer to do, and as I'm still doing a lot of the art for creative relaxation, I tend toward the shorter-to-create portraits...)
