Hey, I was just going through my book shelf, and came across a few Moorcock's series.. "Elric" and "Corum"..

But, suddenly, it dawned on me.. Has he written anything NEW? I cant recall ever seeing a new book (None of these reprints) from Moorcock. Anyone know??

Also, if yuo havent read either the Elric series, or the Corum series, PLEASE do yourself a treat, and read them. =)

I have only read one of his series, I THINK it was called The Dancers At The End Of Time, it is a long time since I read it, but I do remember enjoying it. However I can't remember much about it, it was about 20 years ago I read it... Okay okay... I am getting on a bit http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

He does have a new book out this year, and the good news for you is it is a new Elric(?) novel, see: http://www.eclipse.co.uk/sweetdespise/moorcock/

yeah, everyone should read Elric and Corum, in my opinion the best swords and sorcery ever.

The new Elric book isn't a sequel though, it's just more adventures, because well, you know how Elric ended... (don't want to spoil).

Yes, Elric and Corum.. I think Corum was the first Moorcock book I read.. It's a wonder I did too. When I picked up the first book of Corum, it was a collection of all 3 books (the first 3).. And, it had THE WORSE Cover ever..

On the cover was this giant conan-like warrior, bare chested, wearing next to nothing but a helm on a giant warhorse clutching this amazonian nearly naked princess. I mean, BAD cover.. really really bad..

Read it anways.. Loved it.. Since then, went out and found the orginal printings of the first three covers. Phew.

(Minor SPOILER ahead.)

I like the idea that Elric had served the ideas of Chaos, and Corum Law.. Plus, when they briefly met with a few of the other enternal champions. Hawkmoon and Erokose (sp)..

Did you ever read anything else by Moorcock? I have Hawkmoon.. And I think a few books of Castle Brass..

I have read Hawkmoon, Corum, Elric, The Dancer at the End of Time, Von Bek, Erekoze. All of them wonderful.
I especialy like the whole Multiverse idea. I think Moorcock is brillient. His book are not, lets say, "fantasy for fans", but they contain philosophy also.

Yeah, Moorcock had many philosophical ideas in those books, Elric fought for Chaos and Corum fought for Law but i believe what both of them were really fighting for was Balance.
The Eternal Champion is the champion of balance that is supposed to balance chaos and law when one is getting too strong.

I read Hawkmoon too, i didn't think it was as good as Elric and Corum but it was ok.

And yeah, i love those meetings between the different incarnations of the eternal champion, they combine to this creature with godlike powers, it's cool.

And don't you just love Elric's battle cry?
Blood and souls for my lord Arioch!
