Can anyone recommend a good SF specialist bookseller in the UK? I'm only after new releases (I'd typically buy 4 or so hardbacks a month) and they'd need to be willing to ship to Australia.

I'm fed up with the crap service I'm getting from Amazon UK...about 50% of my books arrive damaged and I hardly ever get an order in which there isn't at least one book that's damaged. While they are always great at replacing the books I'm just sick of the hassle. The books are sent in boxes far too big and they get crushed - as do the books. I've tried telling Amazon this but they're not interested.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

This may be off-track, but have you tried any of the specialty Australian stores?
I usually shop at Galaxy (http://www.galaxybooks.com.au/)
but have also just seen Infinitas (http://www.infinitas.com.au/).

I highly recommend The Book Depository

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk

Good prices, excellent service and free delivery!

I've bought myself about 15 books there and never had any problem at all.

Try:

Cold Tonnage (http://http://www.coldtonnage.com/) and
The Aust Gate (http://http://www.austgate.co.uk/)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Eventine, I don't use Galaxy for UK hardbacks because they are just too expensive. I occasionally get paperbacks from there.

Thanks for the tips - some places to add to the list to receive a factsheet on my latest novel :)
