Well, not quite, but nearly (http://www.nevadaappeal.com/article/20070126/NEWS/101260101). Thankfully ( ) it appears that the original manuscripts for The Belgariad survived the explosion.

What a goof. That's sad about his wife though. He must be writing alone again..

Oh well, though I do find it ironic how someone in the writing forum about a month ago said he would burn a copy of the Belgariad if I didn't insult Eddings' writing for a whole month. I guess Eddings saved you a couple bucks.

I have a sort of fondness for Eddings considering The Belgaraid was what got me into fantasy in the first place. But have to agree with him and say what happened was "dumb". Sad about his wife though. All I can say is that my thoughts and prayers are with them both.

Crazy! Don't think I've ever seen a picture of Eddings before - he looks so old and frail! Bit of a silly mistake to make though.

I know he gets some stick on this forum, but like Sic - he is the author that got me into fantasy.

It is sad news about this wife, and with the office fire on top of it... Must be hard for him.
