When reading a book whatever it maybe do you ever in any way personaly relate to a character?
I find I relate to a Feist character named Erik Von Darkmoor. He is a tall guy and a big guy who thinks about everything before he dose any thing. At times I find myself relating to Jordens character Perrin at times aswell.
I hope I have not shared to much about myself in this post I only hope that others feel the same.

From WOT- I would say I can relate to Perrin.
I found myself often relating to Thomas Covenant. No, I'm not a leper.
Neither am I a dwarf, but I found myslef relating to Tyrion Lannister quite alot in ASoIF.

Jon Snow. Alot a of people call me a bastard at school but in australian slang it's actually a complement.
"you did what! you bloody bastard you."

I can relate to many characters I guess, in one way or another. Of course I don't live in a fantasy world (wait, yes I do...nevermind) so there aren't any that are exactly like me, except maybe for the Mountain Gregor Cleagane in SOIAF...we're a lot alike...

i used to but I do less and less now. i don't really relate to them as in identifying with them, but I can get caught up in the plot and care about them if it's a good book.

Not really. But I do wish sometimes that I'm the character that I like, and wish I was there. But thats Imagining.

Don't put yourself down for that, I fully understand... I do the same thing myself, in fact if a book has that effect on me, thats what I call good writing...

At the beginning of a novel I often relate to one of the characters, but the more I learn about her, the more differences I see.
Though, I am very relieved to hear that some of you also wish to be one of them, or to be there - that's what happens to me often when reading catching books... I was just beginning to think I'm crazy http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
