Anyone read any good dark urban fantasy?
I'm looking for some book with a World of Darkness atmosphere...
People with strnage forces, immortals or strange creatures in modern times...
Stuff like that..
Vampires are welcome too.
Anybody got an idea?

Well... I think the obvious IMHO is 'The Vampire Chronicles' by Anne Rice, the 1st four book are very good, but I lost the plot with 'Memnoch: The Devil', I have heard the latest book is better then this.
However... to get away from the obvious, but to stay with Anne Rice is 'The Witching Hour' and the other books dealing with Lasher.
Batman is another, but I would much rather have the DC Comiics, than the modern interpretations.
But to say which is the Fantasy genre dark/urban fition...hmmm... okay... 'The Winters Tale' by Mark Helprin.

I know this book has been brought up a few times in other posts but how about Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Well, pretty much anything by Neil Gaiman.
Charles de Lint writes some pretty good Urban Fantasies: Memory and Dream comes to mind. Most of de Lint's stories take place in a fictional city called Newford. Many of the spirits are based on Native American mythology, some if it is pretty dark. I **think** he has won at least one World Fantasy Award.
As for Anne Rice, Dennizm pretty much summed it up about her Vampire books. The Witching Hour was really good, but I was a bit put off by the ending. (Others have disagreed strongly with me about my feelings towards the ending, though.)

Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series could fit this category, but I don't know if it is exactly "dark", just full of vampires, ghouls, werewolves, etc. I can't think of anything else right now.

There is a top book and movie by the name of Dark City.Im not to sure who wrote it but it has pretty much all the things you asked for above. It does however border between Si/fi and Fantasy. The book is great but if you can not get it the movie is just as good.

I can only second the reccomendation of "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman.
Also excellent are "Agyar" by Steven Bruest (with vampires) and "Gipsy" by Steven Brust and Megan Lindholm (who also writes as Robin Hobb)

You could try Brian Lumley's Necroscope books. I've only read the first one but IMO it's pretty good. Deals with vampires and a British secret agency which keeps track of and battles them. The agency itself, has people with supernatural powers.

Someone mentioned Dark City -it's a great film, and one that could never be snagged by a Trade's Description act. It's a city, and it's DARK- quite dark in fact, Batman would need night vision goggles.
Totally off the topic here, well slightly, if anybody's into video games, and has a SNES emulator I highly suggest Shadowrun- based on the Steve Jackson games thingey. My friend used own it and I was real jealous- the git. So I downloaded it recently and cried with happiness- it's a GEM. An RPG with matrix hacking and dwarfs with machine guns all the ingredients of good wholesome entertainment.
Now please someone put me outa my misery and tell me how to do those smiley faces.
Or I'll stamp my feet and start screaming;
I want smiley faces!
I want smiley faces!
I want smiley faces!
I want smiley faces!
I think you all get the message.
