I am a huge weis/hickman fan, but I found "dragons of summer flame", their closure of the dragonlance tale a big dissappointment, it felt out of passion and had almost nothing with the astounding chronicles, I won't reveal what happens there if you didn't read it, but if you did, what did you think?

Hi Lior... I agree with you, some people refuse to consider this part of the Chronicles set, I neither agree or disagree with them, but I can see their point.
I have read most of the 'Dragonlance' and 'Forgotten Realms' books, on the whole I like them, but I kinda consider them 'light' reading, except for Chronicles and Legends. There is a lot of inconsistancy in the narative style of a few of the sets, because different authors have writen each book.

I can see why you wouldn't like Summer Flame. There are some major differences in syle between Summer Flame and the earlier Chronicles and Legends books, like they made Tas to be a complete comic relief. He wasn't that much of an idiot in the first 3 books.
I still liked this book, it was entertaining, although some of these inconsistencies were annoying, but for me this is the ending to Dragonlance, i don't bother to read the 5th age stuff.
Dragonlance books not by Weis&Hickman are almost all a waste of time.
And that new trilogy by Weis&Hickman...
**** Spoiler ***
Tas returns after he died in Summer Flame...
apperantly he time traveled to this 5th age trilogy before dying in summer flame, that's even more stupid than Ripley being born again in Alien 4. The series loses all reason here. I have no plan of reading it.

Your'e right, dennizm, most FR books are fluffy stuff, but there are exceptions to the rule, like the f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c and brilliant dark elf trilogy, and if any of you D&D fans haven't read it already, then, what in lloth's name are you waiting for?

The Dark Elf Trilogy and The Icewind Dale Trilogy are the best FG sets, I agree... in fact most of RA Salvatore's books are good, I also like the Cleric Quintet by him as well.

As a whole, I say I like Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis's writing. Summer of Flame was on par with all of the other books they wrote. I see the whole thing as seven books. To me, Test of the Twins is Dragonlance, books 4, 5 & 6.
SPOILER ALERT RE: Dragons of Summer Flame
I like this book for a lot of reasons. I liked that Raistlin didn't have a daughter after all. I liked that Tasslehoff died and I loved the part where he and Flint reunite. Tanis dying threw me. I didn't like his death...
Soldier B carlessly turns around, accidently running Tanis threw. "Oh GOD! I just killed Tanis--a Hero of the Lance!!" *Soldier B drops sword and runs away*
It was too "Oops!" for me.

Yeah, that sucked... Tanis Half-Elven the hero of my childhood, one of the first fantasy heroes i read about, and one of my favorites, dying in a working accident.
I cried.

I was kind of disappointed with Dragons of Summer Flame. (Possible spoilers) It was a compeltely pointless addition to the series, which should have ended on the appropriate spot at the end of Test of the Twins. If they wanted to continue with the same world and characters Weiss and Hickman would have been writing another trilogy instead of the one book, as it felt rushed and compacted in places. The return of Raistlin was rather pointless and was handled badly. Dead characters should stay dead. It only detracted from the Poignancy of Raistlin's death in TOTT. Plus it was lazily written by Weiss and Hickman who used exactly the same plot formula as they did in The Deathgate cycle and the Darksword books.

Cannon Fodder, Raistlin wasn't dead; he was Takhisis's captive...
