Do you feel it is significantly better than sundial? I was hoping for a new author to follow(as opposed to a one hit wonder).
Oops, I had a bit of a brainfart here- Ash IMO, is siginificantly better than Orthe and White Crows, and I totally forgot about 1610, which IMO, is pretty good, though not quite as good as Ash.
So I think Mary Gentle really is a hit-or-miss author.
And she's also one of those love/hate authors.
And Ash isn't really sci-fi, it's more like a blend of sci-fi and fantasy and alternate history.
