What's your favorite heroine?
I admire Mara in the Kellewan saga by Feist/Wurts - she's my absolute favorite. She's very brave, has strong feelings and very clever.
I like Arya of SoIaF too. She tries to take her life into her own hands. Can't stand her sister Sansa. She's always allowing people to use her.

I would have to go with either Althea Vestrit, from the Liveship Traders Trilogy, or Lyra Silvertongue, from the His Dark Materials Trilogy.

I like Althea, too.

Malinda from Sky of Swords by Dave Duncan is a great character as well.

Tough question. There are lots of female characters out there that I like. Here's my list:
Liath - Crown of Stars by Kate Elliott
Jaenelle Angelline - Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop
Arya - SoFaI by George R.R. Martin
Karigan G'ladheon - Greenrider by Kristen Britain
Lessa - Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey (I know, this is more scifi than fantasy but I really like her, especially in the original trilogy)

Arya & Brienne from Soif
Danica from Cleric Quinet by Salvatore
Liath and Del aren't bad

I tend to like fighter characters I guess though. Do most female readers of fantasy out there like male or female characters? Just wondering...

Well... Hmm...
I like Goldmoon and Laurana from the DL Chronicles.
The Rose (Michael Moorcock)
Valeria (R.E. Howard)
Can'remember anyone else right now.
And Pluvious, I think, female readers like female characters most of the time. Don't know why; I like them both http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hey Fitzchivalry, I've read the Anita Blake books. That's one tough woman. I like her too, but she needs to make up her mind about her boyfriends. Pick one, pick the other, pick both - I don't care, just pick! Then have fun!

Oh I forgot the dragon lady from SOIF also.
