I really liked this book, and the second, First Rider's Call, was great as well. There is a third one but I haven't got it yet. It is becoming a favorite series of mine.

Read it a couple of years ago. Remember liking it quite a bit.

I read the two books a while ago. I'd rate it as above-average fluff/mush. Not much substance, or originality and was quite flawed. But it was a fun ride and kept me entertained, and it was very readable. I think Britan could do for alot of improvement, like including a MAP (that one bugs me), some creativity, and alot of her magic seemed muddled and invented on the spot as deux ex mechania. I mean, I do not believe her world exists out there at any one moment, but is shifting and changing to the author's whims. But her characters are likeable.

Is there? This is from her website:
"The third Green Rider book is tentatively scheduled to appear a year from now in November 2007."
I think it's called The High King's Tomb.

Well, that would explain why I don't have it yet, LOL.

As Physics Knight wrote, it's popcorn fantasy. Read it once, then continue to next book.

I enjoyed it. Have not gotten around to reading the sequel, though. It was very nostalgic reading for me, reminded me of the kinds of books that I read way back when I was a teen and just getting into the genre.

I've read both and enjoyed them.
Apparently she's working on the 4th book at the moment.
