What is your definition of fantasy literature? is it just sword and sorcery?
or is it everything with a fantastic element, which is not SF or Horror?
(Like The Dark Tower or Amber series of books?)

This was discussed before in some thread so i will be short.
In my opinion Fantasy is everything fantastic, meaning that can not happen in our world not in the present or in the future (probably). And that refers to magic and strange creatures usually.
The difference with Sci Fi is that things written as sci fi there is a chance will happen in the future, spaceships, AIs, etc.
And i would say that Horror stories aren't really a different genre, they can be fantasy horror or detective horror or whatever, what makes a story a horror story is the purpose of the story which is mainly to scare.
There are many sub-genres to fantasy, the one with epic quests on totally other worlds is high fantasy, but that's not the whole genre of fantasy as some people think.

I would agree with FitzChivlary in that I find sci-fi to be a kind of fantastic litterature that has a stronger tie to present day "real world" conditions.
