I've never read him, but you're in good company if you like his work. Raymond E. Feist cites him as a major influence http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Leiber was one of the best. Swords and Deviltry was the first fantasy book I ever read and remains one of my favorites. Anyone who doesn't read Leiber is missing out on some of the best fantasy ever written.

I have seen great things about Leiber, I think he was awarded Grand Master Status from SFWA and the Gandalf Award.
Problem is, much of his Lankhmar stories are not that easy to find.

Yeah, he won a hugo and nebula for Ill Met in Lankhmar, the second part of Swords and Deviltry. I found a cool site about him if anyone's interested.

I'm trying to collect Fritz Leiber's Swords Series. Can anybody confirm this as the order of the books:
1. Swords and Deviltry
2. Swords Against Death
3. Swords in the Mist
4. Swords Against Wizardry
5. The Swords of Lankhmar
6. Swords and Ice Magic
7. The Knight and Knave of Swords

Yes, it is correct.
Just to add to the pile (and possibly making it cheaper), Books 1 & 2 were published together as Ill met in Lankhmar, Books 3 & 4 were published as Lean Times in Lankhmar, and book 5 & 6 as Return to Lankhmar by White Wolf in the US.
In the UK, it's even cheaper - the 6 books are published in 2 volumes as part of the Millennium Fantasy Masterworks series, as The First Book and Second Book of Lankhmar.
Though you're in Australia, Literbug, you should find them fairly easy to get, I think.

Very envious, Steve.... the man was clearly one of a kind. I loved his horror stuff too, which is often unnoted.
Because you are modest, here are the two books, sadly out of print: Book 1 (http://www.darksidepress.com/leiberblack.html) and Book 2 (http://www.darksidepress.com/leibersmoke.html)
His somewhat darker but humourous tone seems to fit my personality well..... :)
And here's a new collection: here (http://www.darksidepress.com/leiberhorrible.html) what a great cover!

Thanks Hobbit :D.
I've got a prejudice against those Millennium Fantasy Masterworks books - I've read a few where the font was tiny and there were lots of editing errors . I tend to buy my books secondhand as I have a little bit of Irish in me and find book prices these days outrageous. If I can find all the Swords Series secondhand from about $2-$5 each, I'll probably be saving $5-$25 by not buying the Fantasy Masterworks editions :).
I have read two Fritz Leiber stories. I think the first was called "The Snow Queens". It was an origins story of Fafhrd and I found it hard going. Though I've been assured his origin stories are probably the weakest. The second was something along the lines of "Gonna Roll Them Bones". It was excellent.
