One important notice before we go further: the rules on links in posts have changed as of today at SFFWorld. Please READ HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?p=392720) before you use inappropriate links. Thank you.

Over to the Book Clubs....

Currently juggling The Lies Of Locke Lamora and the last book in The Dark Tower series. Also stuck into Ash: A Secret History and it's every bit as good as Hobbit's been saying.

Just started Wit'ch Fire by James Clemens.......not sure if I'll continue with the series, it's okay, bobs along quite well but not much depth.

Mind you my last book was Erikson's Deadhouse Gates, finished that yesterday, so that's a very hard one to follow, especially with one this shallow .......

I still can't stop thinking about it. Coltaine, Duiker and the Chain of Dogs had me blubbering....what a series!! I am so loving this, just trying to spin it out.
Am dying to get the next one MoI as I really need to see what happens with Tattersail and the rest of the GotM gang......just need an emotional break first, I haven't anything left at the moment. LOL

started crown of stars by kate elliott with "king's dragon" - i can't say anything about the plot yet, but i like the clean writing style and the epic scale. with 7 volumes it will probably keep me occupied well into next month.
i also did a quick break with "winterfair gifts" by Lois McMaster Bujold, but it was too short to really get in the mood. anybody knows if and when she will write another full length Miles Vorkosigan book?

I recently bought Gardens of the Moon and The Lies Of Locke Lamora but currently trudging through ASOIAF - might take me a while to finish that despite how awesome it is. :D

Who wrote -Ash: A secret History? And what's it about? Never heard of it.

I've been surfing the net all night looking for something new to read and found my way here.

I did find that Stephen Erikson has a new book out in the Malazan series, after House of Chains. Can't reacall the name at the moment. Anyone read it yet?

Last good books I read were Bujold's Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls. Never really cared for her Vorkasagen stuff, but I really enjoyed both of these.

Oh, and two oldies I'd never heard of before by a Mitchell Smith, called Snowfall and Kingdom River.

Welcome, Macklyn. You are new, here, clearly, or you would not have needed to ask 'that' question. :)

The book is ASH: A Secret History by Mary Gentle. You want the UK edition to get the full effect, or the US version which was published in 4 separate sections.

I have a reputation of being rather obsessive about the book here. I think it's one of the best books of SF/Fantasy I've read in over 30 years of reading the stuff. It's not for everyone though.

The Search button will show you the many times it has been mentioned here at SFFWorld. But to get you started, try:

[LATER EDIT: (And back to topic). Finished The Wanderer's Tale by David Bilsborough. Review HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/brevoff/371.html). The simple answer is 'I wasn't impressed'.]
