A question about Terry Brooks' Word and Void Trilogy

I've heard many good things about the author Terry Brooks. I am planning to very soon read his Shannara Series which looks and sounds to be excellent. I have also heard of an excellent trilogy he has created called The Word and Void Trilogy, which is also called The Demon Trilogy, but I like to call it the other because I'm afraid some might mix it around with the even more excellent-looking Demon Wars Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. I have a question on The Word and Void Trilogy, since I haven't read it as of yet: In an interview with a fan, Terry Brooks was asked what the Word was in The Word and Void Trilogy, and he anwered, "Well, what do you think?".
I'm wondering, is Terry referring to the Word as the Word of God? Because I've heard of some very good supernatural dark fantasy authors such as Frank Peretti who give supernatural dark fantasy a religious edge such as in "The Oath" and "This Present Darkness".

I really liked both the Shanarra series and the Demon trilogy by Terry Brooks (I havn't ever heard it refered to as the Word and the Void Trilogy.) Even though they are completely different series there is a connection between the two in the form of the Word.

As to your question. The Word is the title of a supernatural being although i would not say that it is God. At least not in the sense that most Christians belive in god. It also isn't a reference to the word of god since The Word is the title and not refering to something else. At least that is how I see it.

Speaking of the Demon Wars Trilogy by Salvatore, has anyone here read it? And if so, what did you think of it? I haven't read it myself, but it looks really good, especially the covers. But, you know what they say, you can't judge a book by its cover, but then again, in some instances, you can.

I have seen a similar question asling if the Word in Shannara is the same as the Word in the Demon trilogy, and he answered the same. Terry likes to use this answer to excite his readers imagination.

I'll have to disagree with Ravenlock in that there is no strict answer to the question, only what you derive yourself. I myself believe that the word is something more primal than God, more an elemental force of goodness.

I think that is why Brooks is intentionally vauge about it, so that readers can establish their own conclusions about it.

Zsinj16:

I thought the Demonwar Saga by Salvatore to be pretty good. Definitely a step up from his TSR novels.

I don't like Terry Brooks' writing very much, i believe that his Shannara series is just a cheap rip off of LOTR. except that it is a sword they are after. kind of gay, i think, tell me what you thikn about my oppinion!:D

I read the Word series first and then I went onto the Shannarra series and boy is there a load of books in that one :D

I loved both too, easy to read, not bogged down in necessary detail.

I love the Demon Trilogy (Knight of the Word was my first fantasy book :) ) Salvatore's Demon Trilogy and the next Demon trilogy just didn't overaly grab me - Pony annoys me and I only read some of them cause of Elbryan - he's kewl) I like Salvatores Dragon King series better (Crimson Shadow - love it:) )
