Yes.

I was at the Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands this afternoon and after recently being confronted with the publsihing delays of Sean Russell (originally March, now August) and Tad Williams' War of the Flowers (originally fall, now unknown but won't be out this year!) there's no GRRM. When first asked about the AFFC release date, he only said it was "definitly behind schedule" something Martin fans have known for a while. But when someone pressed the point he seemed to want to avoid he did say: "I really couldn't tell right now. Maybe Spring 2003, but maybe not. It's a big book"

Very disappointing. It was due in Fall this year, it even says so on the website. Probably six months delay, if not more. I hope this doesn't sound to negative, I certainly want him to write good books and take his time for it, it's just that this is a huge delay, and not the first this month.

Yeah, Tad Williams posted it at Shadowmarch. Wouldn't be out by the end of this year, but Michael Whelan would do the cover, a big plus, but still overwhelmed by the delay.

This news has me feeling really depressed...

When AFfC is finally released, I think its going to be incredible. And HUGE - maybe even surpassing the 1000 page monster A Storm of Swords.

Cal, yes I thought this would give you some ammo http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Rhaegar, GRRM has expressed to want to write a book the size of Clash of Kings. He feels that SoS was a one-off and really too large for a single book, which is why AFFC will be smaller.

Mith, GRRM makes the distinction in size between CoC and SoS? They were both massive! I wasn't aware that ~ 100 pages made that much difference to him.

You must mean "he's afraid OF".

Rob Jordan and Dave Eddings aren't doing much good for the American educational system, that's for sure http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Clash of Kings was 725 pages Qin. Storm of Swords was 935. That's a considerable difference.
