The topic says it all. After a brutal week of work, on a lazy Friday night I hit the bookstore. To my suprise, two of my most anticipated novels for this year are sitting on the shelf just released.
These are the days I live for. A new Weis & Hickman Dragonlance novel (on sale at Mediaplay for $15 at that!).
And once I tear through that one (and it promises to be a barn-burner), I move onto Sea of Silver Light, the concluding volume in Tad's latest 'break-your-wrist-when-you-pick-up-the-book' epic.
Weighing at a little over 900 pages, this one promises to be absolutely brutal to try and hold while reading.
Yes, oh yes, I've got some reading to do. Sometimes life can be good http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sea of Silver Light might hurt your wrist, but believe me, it's worth it. I read the entire 922 pages in only two days, and it's great!

I think Tad Williams is at the top of the short list of GREAT fantasy writers today. I will be picking up Sea of Silver Light this week.
I think I will wait for the new Weis & Hickman Dragonlance series to be all in paperback before I read it.
How was Dragons of a Fallen Sun?

Tad is no doubt at the top of his game with the Otherland series. If all goes well, I'll have finished off Dragons of a Lost Star today and begin Silver Light tonight...I can't wait.
Dragons of a Fallen Sun was very good. Weis & Hickman still have it, in my opinion. I know alot of people have various thoughts on it, but I loved it. Its a little on the different side, they pretty much have to go about rebuilding an entire world and introducing you to the new characters, political factions, etc; and that took up some of the book. But they managed to lay the groundwork for what I think is going to be (and so far is turning out to be) a great story.

I heared some foolish things about Fallen Sun, that made me decide not to read it.
****possible spoiler****
I heared Tas is in that book because he time travelled there before he died in Summer Flame... come on, how many times can you reuse the same thing? not to mention that it is extremely foolish solution to Tas' death and it seems like they don't believe they can create a new character as good.

Hey Fitz, I was a little leary when I saw that he was back, but it still worked out to the better.
There is some good character development too. So over all, if you can get over the Tas part, you might like it.

He is back, but so far is really only in the background. Weis and Hickman are only sprinkling a little Tas here and there to keep a small connection to the old world while they build up the new sets of characters in the land.
Even though it did seem a little silly that they would have him come back, it really hasn't distracted from the new story.

I just finished Sea of Silver Light, and all I have to say is that Tad is THE MAN!!.
Now I plan to re-read Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn even sooner than I planned.

For some reason, I kept thinking that Paul Jonas was going to either be more connected to Sellars or actually be a version of Sellars.
I like how he threw in the LOTR-ish ending. The way that it turned out that Olga's son was The Other was a really good plot twist, and it made sense the way it was explained.

Generally, the way he tied everything up was great.

I am trying not to be all blatently advertising about my site, because people hate that, but I feel that some people in this thread might be genuinely interested in my competition this month, so that's my disclaimer. Sorry to everyone that isn't.
If you haven't already got a copy of Sea of Silver Light and would like one I am giving it, and a copy 'The Confederation Handbook' by Peter F. Hamilton, away in this month's competition. See the URL below to go straight to it.
