I like books by Tamora Pierce. (She's the one who got me hooked onto young adult fantasy, I think.) I have her Circle of Magic series at home.
Yup I have read quite a lot of Tamora Pierce, not bad at all :) . Great writer.I have read the Circle of Magic quartet, the circle opens quartet, there's a new one out 'The Will of the Empress' from the circle reforged-haven't read that one
Umm....have read the song of the lioness quartet, the immortals quartet and the protector of the small quartet.
I think the only books that I haven't read apart from The will of the empress is Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen have to go and buy them. Anyone read them?

sophie masson - cold iron
- the lay lines trilogy*
david eddings - the belgariad
- the malloreon (became a bit too repetitive, but humorous)
k.j. parker - the scavenger trilogy (plenty of dark humour, no magic, and a prophecy)
lian hearn - tales of the otori trilogy*
catherine fisher - the snow walker series

what did you think of the lioness, immortals and the protector of the small quartets?? I really enjoyed them apart from the protector of the small ones...i didn't really identify with the main character. but i loved the lioness and the immortal quartets!! :p

You can read the sample chapters on her website www.tamorapierce.com
Yes I thought they were all very good but I agree with you the protector of the small quarter was sort of a weaker version of the song of the lioness quartet- I think the song of the lioness quartet is favourite [because of Alanna, she rocked - the typical kick ass heroine] quartet out of her books but they are all good. The immortals quartet was very original.

Has anyone read The creature in the case. Its sort of an extra to the old Kingdom series. Its only short, as it was meant for World Book Day!!!
Its still good though, not as good as the others. :D

I [heart] Tamora Pierce. My favourite quartet has to be the Immortals Quartet. Mainly because of the ending where Daine and Numair finally get together! I thought that was really sweet if not kinda skeevy due to the age difference.
My favourite series by TP is the Trickster Quartet. Aly is my favourite heroine. I like it how she uses a lot of wit and cunning to get what she wants, much like her father! Very devious and sneaky. Love her!
