Um, okay - I rarely read fantasy, but here it goes...
Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series is one of the best fantasy works I've ever read. I'll always have a soft spot, also, for fantasy staples like “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Harry Potter”, and “Lord of the Rings”. I’m not sure if this is fantasy, but Lois Lowry’s loosely tied together books “The Giver,” “Gathering Blue,” and “The Messenger” are quite engaging as well.
