StarLily,
In my rather biased opinion, they are the best 'series' of books ever written. :)

I'm reading Nineteen-eighty-four by George Orwell atm. I really like it! We're going to read Animal farm is class but its only like.. 90 pages and i can read that in like half an hour so i opted one of his longer works..
Also.. my teacher keeps getting annoyed because i keep reading the books before we read them in class. so far;
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
Hoot - Carl Hiassen
Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare(JULIETTE HARDY HAR HAR)
Nicholas Nickelby - Charles Dickens
Jenny Lee

I LOVE Animal Farm. I read it in middle school and then we discussed the aspects of the book. Eventhough it is short it still is a great read!!!

Beleg and bridie,
My unbiased opinion tells me that Vance, Leiber, Wolfe, Moorcock and Robert Howard are all superior to Martin. :p
I'm doing Animal Farm as case study for english this year. Going to be heaps boring, we get to analyse it and write essays on it. :mad:

haha i remember animal farm. it was hilarious...well at the time i read it lol :D
here's a summary cuteshortie:D
The animals on Mr. Jones' farm have had enough of what they deem to be slavery. They're tired of being ordered around by humans while they see no benefits in their daily work. This is all sparked by a dream that the boar, Major, had about a unique place where animals called the shots and never had to be ordered around by humans ever again. He tells them a revolution is very much needed. When Major dies, the animals act quickly and are able to overthrow the alcoholic farmer and his thugs from his very own farm. The pigs are in charge now, as they claim that they are much smarter than the others and know how to lead. What seems to be paradise quickly transforms into another form of slavery altogether enforced by propaganda and threats from the pigs. And yet, the animals do not know any better, as they are deceived by the new system that gives them the illusion that they are better off than they were with Mr. Jones calling the shots.

It's based on the.. the russian revolution (methinks) Equality sounds good ..but would it work out, would it?
Imagine all people were paid the same, sounds good but then, what if you were a doctor and had studied for years and you got paid the same as a .. window-washer*!
There's a really great quote in there;
All Animals are Equal but some are more Equal than others.
*PS: Once when i was late for school i was getting changed really quickly and i just took my top off really quick and i peeked out the curtains to see if my taxi was here and the window-washer was there and he saw me :(
