Eragon was very good...especially considering that the author is only 19!

*comes in late as per usual*
I don't really have much to say, only concerning the opening post. Author's I love and read a lot are:
Roger Zelazny - his Amber books fascinated me. I can't recall many times when I've enjoyed fantasy as much. His Lord of Light book (which I only read recently) was true to his style and another personal favourite. Such a great writer.
Iain M Banks - Originally recommended by a friend when I first started getting into SF. His Culture Novels are some of the best sci-fi out there, at least in my opinion.
Ken Macleod - quite a new face in the field of Sci-Fi, but also one of the best (again in my opinion). I absolutely loved his Engines of Light trilogy, and it's nice to see a scottish author doing so well.
At the moment that would be my list :D
