p.s. Kenneth Oppel has also written a trilogy from the viewpoitn of a bat. They're called, silverwing, firewing and sunwing. (i think) not bad read
Heyy I read those books. Kenneth Oppel is CANADIAN! W00t w00t! I really liked those books, but I read them when I was between the ages of 10 to 12, I think. They might not be as enjoyable for us older Cadvan-loving Pellinor readers =P.
I'm looking for a good fantasy novel starring a heroine that has romance and adventure and all that good stuff. Any suggestions, guys? (Don't mention Tamora Pierce, I've read all her Tortall stuff already and love it, hehe)

*ahem* :DI'd recommend Threshold by Sara Douglass. It is set in a Fantasy world, but one that is most definatly based on Egypt and some northern parts of Europe. It's, agian, the story of a youngish girl who finds she has remarkable powers &c&c and is also a slight romance. I love it even more because it's betwwen two character who start off hating each other
There's also Dragonlinks, Dragonfang and Dragonsight (Yes, the author has a 'thing' for Dragons :D) By Paul Collins though i think they're aimed at younger teenagers, they're still good
Also for youngers teenagers is The Singers of Tremaris trilogy by Kate Constable, The Singer of All Songs, The Waterless Sea and The Tenth Power.
I know Threshold is available in Canada, i'm fairly sure The Kate COnstable ones are too, but i'm not sure about the Paul Collins books.
heh, all aussie authors :D

Thanks, Gemini! I've read the first two Chanters of Tremaris books, actually, and really really liked them. I'm waiting for the third one to be released in Canada... along with other Aussie books.

I agree with you recommending Garth Nix Sabriel books but totally disagree with William Nicholson. I found the wind singers boring and too long (even though it wasnt that big of a book) for its content. I found the plot to be lacking and I literally could hardly finish the book.

The ending of the last one, (Wind on Fire was it?) was painfully obvious... i knew, after only reading the blurb, who would die who would have it off with whom &c&c....
Though, i still enjoyed them.... deff for younger readers

I thought the Wind on Fire trilogy was good, too. Back when I read Slaves of the Mastery (the 2nd book) I thought it was the most masterfully spun web of characters and events and plots that all came together in the end, EVER. Maybe my opinion on that would change now that I'm older, so I'd reccommend the books for people 10-12.
